Do You have a Problem of Bad Breath?

You’re supposed to regularly brush and floss your teeth after each meal or at least once in the morning and the evening. But let’s assume that you have done all the flossing you could and yet, you’re not able to get rid of that stink! You have colleagues come up to you only to gasp and run away – that would definitely be a sign that the odor is still there.

Will Breathsavers do the Trick?

You could try a few breath savers and see if they would do the trick but do note that if you have diabetes, you may want to avoid these as they are known to contain high amounts of fructose. Most breathsavers or variants from companies other than Hershey are based on neutrazin which is supposed to neutralize the bad breath.

While these mints do work, there could be any number of reasons that you could have bad breath, from a dental infection to something more serious, the bad breath being the symptom of the same.

Should I Visit a Dentist?

If your condition persists, visit a dentist at the earliest for a check-up. Once the doctor has evaluated your current condition and has ruled various infections out, then you can take a few additional measures to help combat the bad breath, starting with your diet and other habits.

How to get Rid of Bad Breath?

Make it a point to floss regularly after each meal and scrape your tongue often. In many cases the main culprit turns out to be the plaque, which collects bacteria, thereby causing bad breath. There are various mouthwash products that you can opt to reduce the bacteria present in your teeth. Apart from this, make it a point to scrape your tongue regularly with a tongue scraper.

The new products contain sodium bicarb, which is known to reduce the acidic activity in your mouth thereby reducing your bad breath and preventing mouth ulcers and similar infections. While these mints can help to reduce your bad breath, the fact remains that they cannot prevent a disease, but can only moderate or minimize the effects.

In the end, it is all up to you to prevent bad breath with some lifestyle changes and do note, if you smoke on top of having bad breath, chances are your teeth would be discolored as well from all that tar and nicotine.

You can use these mints which are usually effective for a couple of hours, but unless you change your habits for the better and pick up some good ones like flossing regularly, the bad breath would become a permanent feature.

So take care to brush and floss daily, use mouth wash before retiring at the end of the day, avoid onions and garlic for a while – and in time, your bad breath should disappear into thin air.
